Fruit Salad

Fruit Salad is a social group that meet once a month in South Tyneside.
They are a voluntary group offering social support to people who are LGBT across North and South Tyneside.
One of the long term objectives of the group is to raise awareness of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) issues. 
The aim is to do this by educating, myth busting and informing voluntary organisations, community groups, statutory agencies, private sector and the wider public, this can be achieved through creative writing and artwork.

The Fryers, Northumberland

A weekly session held in Bedlington for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered young people and their friends.
If you are 13 to 25 and live in the area we would love to hear from you.
The group offers a safe social space  and individual support for its members.
The programme of activities is set by the members and so far has included Chinese Cooking, Quiz night, Gay Film Nights, Birthday parties, trip to Edinburgh, discussion group, karaoke & barbecue at the beach.
Future events to include regional quiz cup, graffiti art, creating an arts installation, going to the footie!

TYNESIDE YOUNG LESBIAN PROJECT

A voluntary organisation providing services for young women 25 and under who are lesbian, bisexual or think they might be. The Young Lesbian Group meets one evening per week, in central Newcastle. The group provides a safe, supportive environment, where young women can meet each other and have the opportunity to talk in confidence about their sexual orientation and related issues. WOWI

Wansbeck Out With It! or Wowi! to it’s members, is a social and support group for young LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity) aged 13 to 25 who live in Wansbeck or the surrounding areas of Northumberland.
The group is held once a fortnight in a safe space in Ashington and run by staff from Northumberland Community Development Network and Trinity Youth Association.
It is a place to meet other LGBT people of a similar age, make new friends, to have fun and learn about some of the key issues that may affect us and people like us. We can also help you during those times when you may feel you need some support.
The group’s activities have included themed parties, Northern Pride, trips out, film nights, drama, making a radio programme, sexual health information, chill out sessions and there are opportunities to do Arts Awards or the V Award for those interested.

Derwentside Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Group

The Derwentside LGB Group is a safe, informal, friendly place to meet in Derwentside. The group is a social, support group for lesbian, gay and bisexual people in the Derwentside area; however, people are welcome from all areas.

 

The group runs once a week on a Wednesday evening from 7-9pm in Consett and is service user led. The group offers support, one to one health information, advice, etc. The sessions are informal and involve general social discussion or issues involving the group as well as general LGB issues.

 

Recreational and education activities are also arranged for the group.

Derwentside LGB Youth Group

A new youth group has been set up for young lesbian, gay and bisexual people in Derwentside. This group will provide a safe space in which young LGB people can question, develop and understand issues of sexuality.

 

The group workers will work directly with the young people to encourage their personal, social and education development by assessing needs and providing a programme of activities designed to meet those needs.
